Upcoming Enhancements:
SuperPOSS PRO is a powerful, efficient, point-of-sale back office management
system designed expressly for the food and drug industry. It provides
complete control over the pricing of store merchandise, simplifies tracking
of the store's inventory movement and affords effective means for systematizing
many facets of store operations.
SuperPOSS PRO is designed to function in two capacities:
· As a stand-alone system-independent stores where all pricing
and item movement functions are carried out at the store in which SuperPOSS
PRO is installed.
· In host systems-in stores where SuperPOSS PRO handles
most operations, but also receives some pricing from the host computer
at a wholesaler's warehouse or company headquarters.
SuperPOSS PRO can communicate with host computers that use one of the
following file formats: AHSTMT, SIL, Unified Western Grocers, Associated
Grocers and SuperValu.
With SuperPOSS PRO, your store's computer becomes the nucleus of store
operations. SuperPOSS PRO is available on Windows NT, XP, and 2000 operating
systems and is compatible with the following registers systems: NCR ScanMaster
and ICL ISS45. Upcoming registers include Datasym GR6000, Datasym Merlin,
and IBM ACE.
Complete Price Management
With SuperPOSS PRO, you can create and maintain a price look-up file
containing pricing, inventory and movement information for every item
in your store.
- Check, change, add or delete price lookup information for any item
with a few simple keystrokes or mouseclicks.
- Enter price changes at the computer, then send them to the POS terminal
immediately, or schedule them to take effect on a specific date
- Have SuperPOSS PRO reduce prices for an advertising promotion when
a sale begins and return prices to their regular levels when the sale
ends
- In hosted systems, use SuperPOSS PRO to integrate price file maintenance
performed at the host computer, in-store computer, and POS terminal.
Enhanced Movement Fields
All of the new movement fields are accessible from the PLU maintenance
screen. These fields are available in the following time frames: The last
7 individual days of movement, last 13 weeks, the last 5 quarters, and
4 user-defined periods. SuperPOSS PRO has a range of reports for printing
a variety of user-configurable movement summary and PLU level movement
reports.
Once you have specified the criteria for which items are to be included
in a report, you can choose the order in which the movement data is to
be sorted: by UPC, vendor item number, gross margin, total retail or number
of units sold. In each case, you can provide reports comparing daily,
weekly, quarterly or periodic movement; limit the report to items in one
or more specified departments; and specify whether you want the data sorted
in order by department number, gross margin, total retail or number of
units sold.
The PLU level movement report options let you print or display register
daily, weekly, periodic, or quarterly movement reports that list movement
data by individual PLU item, with summary lines showing totals by department,
category or vendor. You can limit any of these reports to:
- Items whose UPC's fall within a specific number range
- Items whose vendor item numbers fall within a specific range
- "Fast Movers"-items that have sold more than a specified
average number of units per selected time period
- "Slow Movers"-items that have sold fewer than a specified
average number of units per selected time period
- "Zero Movers"-items that have sold no units during the reported
range of time periods
- The first (n) items as determined by the PLU sort (see below), where
(n) is a user-specified value
- Items affected by a specified promo
- Or you can simply elect to include all items in the PLU file
Finally, you can choose whether to have the system format the report
so that each item's UPC or its vendor item number appears in the first
column. The movement summary report options let you print or display movement
summaries broken down by vendor, department or category.
Extensive Listing and Reporting Capabilities
SuperPOSS PRO produces an array of useful reports to help you manage
your store:
- Historical register reports that analyze financial data recorded over
extended time periods. Historical Reports include hourly sales, department
sales, store sales, and cashier productivity. Historical register reports
allow users to input a date range.
- Price listings-for all or selected store items-that are instantly
available on your computer screen
- Inventory status reports that tell you the quantity of each item in
stock, indicating which items are due to be reordered and which items
are out of stock
- Promo reports showing the effects of price promotions on the movement
of sale items.
- Dated movement reporting.
Enhanced Password Security
With SuperPOSS PRO password protection, you have control over who has
access to which menu items, granular down to the menu item level.
Features and Functions
SuperPOSS PRO is a windows-based software system with a graphical user
interface.
Functions:
File Maintenance:
This menu option is used to setup brands, categories, and departments.
Users also use this option to delete items out of their file, including
a zero movement deletion feature. File Re-Organization and PLU File Builds
reside under this menu. SuperPOSS PRO does not have a label printing program
built into it, but we do export label file information to third party
software packages like Design-R-Labels, Bartender, Shelf Image, and eltsigns.com.
PLU Maintenance:
Use this option to set up and maintain SuperPOSS PRO price look-up (PLU)
file. This function lets you:
- Examine, add, change and delete PLU item records
- Transmit to the register any PLU file modifications you make with
SuperPOSS PRO while in immediate maintenance
- Change item prices at your computer, then transmit the new prices
to the register
- Apply price changes immediately or store them in a batch, to be sent
to the register later, on a specified date
- Change prices permanently or temporarily-SuperPOSS PRO can automatically
apply sale prices and return them to their regular values on dates you
specify
- Display at-a-glance information about specific items, including itemizers
set, inventory levels, movement information, and the batches that the
item is in.
- Select host maintenance imports
Batch Maintenance Functions:
Use this option to:
- Transmit batches to your master cash register either immediately or
during the next end-of-day processing routine, regardless of the batches'
effective dates
- Reset batches that were scheduled to be transmitted to the register
during end-of-day processing, so they can be sent immediately or rescheduled
for another date
- Delete batches from the batch maintenance file
- Edit or delete the individual file modification records contained
in your batches
- Print or display the individual file modification records contained
in your batches
- Import and export batches between stores, to decrease time spent inputting
information as well as errors.
Reporting:
A few things are different in SuperPOSS PRO from SuperPOSS 2002 with regard
to reporting. Most reports are now contained in one drop-down menu, all
reports can be printed, displayed, exported, or the format saved. PFM
and DSD reports are under their specific menu. Also, all reports display
in the full window, meaning users don't have to scroll back and forth
horizontally to view their report. SuperPOSS PRO also maintains a listing
of the last ten of each report run, so users don't have to re-select their
criteria. Other features include:
- Historical financial reports for store sales, cashier reports, department
sales, and hourly sales. Users can specify a date range to report on.
- Print a report listing PLU item records with expired and un-expired
hold-down dates
- Produce a PLU file listing that shows in summary form the data included
in each item record
- PLU Master Report Selection allows users to create their own custom
reports.
- Print or display a comparison report detailing discrepancies between
SuperPOSS PRO PLU file and that of the master register
- Update movement information from the register
- Create inventory, reorder, and out of stock reports
- List the promos in SuperPOSS PRO promo file
- Print inventory movement reports based on data retrieved from the
register. This can be selected items in your store, selected departments,
categories, or even selected manufacturers and vendors as well as promotional
based movement.
- Report on daily movement for 7 days, weekly movement for 13 weeks,
and quarterly movement for 5 quarters.
- Users can save and recall reports that are run frequently.
- Report History maintains the last ten of each report run.
End of Day Processing:
Run this option at the close of each business day. End of Day Processing
is the hub of SuperPOSS PRO automatic functions. It's when most routine
data exchanges take place between the in-store computer and the register
system.
You can customize the system's end-of-day processing routine to perform
any or all of the following functions:
- Send to the register any PLU maintenance batches created at the in-store
computer or host computer that are scheduled for application on the
current date.
- Delete batches marked for deletion in the batch maintenance file.
- Retrieve movement data from the register and use it to update the
sales analysis history and promo files.
- Print a series of reports, including, a batch maintenance report,
and End of Day error report.
Direct Store Delivery:
Direct Store Delivery (DSD) will provide quick and accurate "back
door receiving" via FM or keyboard fully integrated with your POS
scan file. The FM RECEIVING lets you check the numbers and dollar amounts
on vendor invoices against the actual number of items delivered. You can
record the return of spoiled or damaged items, as well as free units offered
by your vendor. Once you have noted all items received and returned, you
can compare the vendor's figures with your own, make any necessary adjustments
and print your own invoice of the transaction.
Vendor invoices printed with this option include:
- The vendor's invoice number
- The date on which receipt of goods was recorded
- The vendor's name, address and phone number
- Your store's name, address and phone number
- A list of the items received, returned or entered in adjustment-including
each items' PLU number, department, retail case quantity, size, description,
case cost (S/COST), retail cost (U/SELL), gross margin percentage, number
of cases received and extended cost (E/COST-the case cost times the
number of cases received)
- The total number of cases and units of all items received, returned
or provided by the vendor for free
- The total retail value of the items received (TOTAL SALE)
- The total gross margin percentage for all items received
- The total value of returned items
- Vendor's invoice total
- Your own invoice total based on items actually received (TOTAL INVOICE)
- The difference between your total and the vendor's total
- The vendor's terms, as recorded in you DSD vendor file
- The discount you will receive if you pay the vendor within the period
specified by the vendor's terms
- The discounted total (TOTAL).
Managerial Functions:
- Set up security levels and passwords. With SuperPOSS PRO, users can
limit access all the way down to the menu item level.
- Provide SuperPOSS PRO with essential information about your store
and register system
- Define printer locations
- Change your system's communications settings
- Customize SuperPOSS PRO End of Day Processing routine
- Authorize PFM users, and create a report
- Update host options
PFM Network:
The PFM (POSS-FM) Network software lets you use one or more portable entry
terminals to perform shelf audits, make on-the-spot price changes, take
inventory, perform PLU file maintenance and verify direct store deliveries.
While running the network, each portable entry terminal becomes, in effect,
a remote computer terminal from which you can access certain SuperPOSS
PRO functions. The PFM runs in the background, leaving the keyboard free
to do price changes, financial reporting, movement reporting, etc. Functions
include:
- Inventory maintenance
- Inventory review report
- Inventory value report
- Inventory recount report
- Update PLU file with actual inventory
- Change PFM options
- Audit Statistics Report
- Clear Audit Files
- PLU File Clean Up
- Vendor Maintenance
- Vendor Report
Currently, the PFM software is compatible with most Norand, Symbol, AML,
and Telxon FM units. Norand users must have the RM3200 multiplexer for
SuperPOSS PRO.

Hardware Requirements
SuperPOSS PRO can be installed on the server that your ScanMaster,
ISS45, or COMM 2000 software is loaded on. MEISolutions prefers that you
install SuperPOSS PRO on its own server, with client software residing
on the register server. SuperPOSS PRO can be installed on multiple workstations,
as well as on its own server.
You must have a remote communication software package that is compatible
with Windows NT, 2000, or XP (i.e. Carbon Copy 32, PCanywhere 32).
